Huachiew Hospital has grown into a tertiary hospital that cares for patients with complex conditions from all walks of life.

Era 1: 1938 – 1978

The Beginning of Huachiew Hospital From a maternity clinic to fulfilling the ancestors' vow to help the underprivileged.

On June 3, 1946, It was an immense royal grace when King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII),
along with King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX),visited the Thai-Chinese community in Sampheng, and Charoenkrung, as well as the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and Hua Chiew Hospital.

Hua Chiew Hospital, known among the Chinese community as “Hua chiew Kiow Hu Yi”, was initially established as a small 8-bed maternity clinic under the Poh Teck Tung Foundation on July 3, 1938. The name “Huachiew” means “overseas Chinese.” In 1945, Huachiew Hospital moved to a new location near King Taksin Bridge on Bamrungmuang Road in Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, Bangkok. A significant historical event occurred in 1946 when the hospital served as a reception venue for King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) and King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX).

Huachiew Hospital grew in popularity, with over 1,000 births recorded per month. The Poh Teck Tung Foundation board saw the need to expand and increase the hospital’s capacity to 750 beds, upgrading its medical standards to modern levels at that time, and providing comprehensive care in all medical fields.

Era 2: 1979 – 2005

Moving towards a general hospital to care for patients from all walks of life with a modern 22-story building

On May 8, 1979,It was a great royal grace when King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX),
along with Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, inaugurated the 22-story building at Huachiew Hospital.

The 22-story Hua Chiew Hospital was the tallest hospital in Bangkok at the time, featuring modern medical equipment and a helipad for emergency patients. The hospital operated on a non-profit basis, as the funds for constructing the Huachiew Hospital building and purchasing medical equipment came from donations by the faithful, led by Dr. Uthen Techapaiboon, then chairman of the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

On May 8, 1979, King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) and Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, inaugurated the 22-story building. It was a moment of immense pride and gratitude. They also visited the patient rooms, ICU, and helipad. On December 6, 2000, Princess Galyani Vadhana of Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra visited the dialysis center at Hua Chiew Hospital

By 2005, Hua Chiew Hospital was capable of providing medical care across all fields, such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ENT, dentistry, radiology, pathology, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, rehabilitation, and dialysis.

Era 3: 2006 – 2023

From a general hospital to a specialized high-end hospital

Under the administration of the hospital’s management committee, with a vision and a charitable spirit, the hospital was managed with principles of ethics and compassion, in line with the philosophy of Luang Pu Tai Hong (Tai Hong Kong) and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.

The focus was on developing the standards and quality of medical care and services to satisfy patients, with the hospital receiving accreditation from the Institute of Hospital Quality Improvement and Accreditation (HA) since 2006, maintaining continuous quality standards for the sixth time in 2024, with continuous development in all areas.

Hua Chiew Hospital began to develop seriously in late 2005 – present as follows:

Medical Services : The hospital provides services across all medical fields at the secondary and tertiary levels in various specialties, with over 120 full-time physicians and more than 500 consulting physicians, with the capability to treat complex diseases by sub-specialty physicians. Medical Centers include the Cardiac and Vascular Center, Stroke Center, Surgery Center, Orthopedic Center, Ophthalmology Center, Mother and Child Center, Dental Center, and Diabetes and Endocrine Center. Other medical services provided include comprehensive internal medicine clinics, a large dialysis center with standard systems and high-efficiency technology (Online HDF), ENT clinics, rehabilitation and physical therapy clinics, and health check-up centers.
Medical Equipment :The hospital features advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, such as MRI, high-speed CT scans (443 Slices), Cardiac Catheterization Labs,Carotid Duplex Ultrasounds, 3D Tomosynthesis Mammogram for breast cancer diagnosis, Bone Mineral Density testing equipment (BMD),Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT), Laboratory Information System (LIS), Automatic Tablet Packaging Machines, etc.
Information Technology: Hua Chiew Hospital uses the “TrakCare” Hospital Information System (HIS), which is internationally recognized. The system is regularly updated to the latest version, ensuring that doctors, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams can safely care for patients, reduce waiting times, and utilize information technology to manage patient health information through the “Huachiew Connect” application, allowing patients to conveniently access healthcare services, make appointments in advance, and access their health information.

Infrastructure and Facilities : The hospital continuously improves its facilities to support services, enhances safety and public utilities, and modernizes the design of the spaces.

ในผู้ป่วยที่มีไขมันและหินปูนเกาะแบบหนาแน่นมาก หรือมีรอยตีบยาว หรือในมีหลอดเลือดหัวใจขนาดเล็ก จนไม่สามารถขยายหลอดเลือดด้วยวิธีการทำบอลลูนได้ เรามีเทคโนโลยีการรักษาด้วยเครื่องมือลักษณะพิเศษเป็นหัวกรอความถี่สูงที่มีเพชรฝังอยู่ (Rotablator) ช่วยสลายหินปูนทำให้หลอดเลือดเปิดกว้างขึ้น ซึ่งต้องดำเนินการโดยแพทย์ผู้ชำนาญการโดยเฉพาะเท่านั้น

สำหรับผู้ป่วยที่มีจังหวะการเต้นของหัวใจช้ากว่าปกติ รักษาได้ด้วยการใส่เครื่องกระตุ้นหัวใจ ในการรักษาหัวใจที่เต้นผิดจังหวะ รักษาได้ด้วยวิธีจี้จุดกำเนิดการเต้นผิดปกติในหัวใจด้วยคลื่นวิทยุความถี่สูง กรณีที่ผู้ป่วยมีหลอดเลือดโป่งพองผิดปกติ สามารถรักษาโดยการใส่หลอดเลือดเทียมชนิดขดลวดหุ้มกราฟต์ผ่านทางหลอดเลือดแดง (TEVAR)

ในเรื่องของดวงตา ศูนย์จักษุ โรงพยาบาลหัวเฉียว เรามีทีมจักษุแพทย์ที่ดูแลทุกปัญหาเกี่ยวกับดวงตา เพียบพร้อมด้วยเครื่องตรวจวินิจฉัยและเทคโนโลยีอันทันสมัยครบวงจร ทั้งปัญหาจอประสาทตาและน้ำวุ้นตา สามารถตรวจวินิจฉัยด้วยเครื่องสแกนจุดรับภาพและขั้วประสาทตาแบบ 3 มิติ พร้อมการรักษาด้วยเลเซอร์ และการผ่าตัดแผลเล็ก

จากรากฐานที่ก่อตั้งมาจากการผดุงครรภ์ ทำให้ศูนย์แม่และเด็ก โรงพยาบาลหัวเฉียว ประกอบด้วยทีมแพทย์ผู้มีความเชี่ยวชาญด้านสูตินรีเวชศาสตร์สาขาต่างๆ ให้บริการตรวจวินิจฉัย ดูแลรักษา ให้ความรู้และคำแนะนำอย่างใกล้ชิดกับคุณพ่อ คุณแม่ ตั้งแต่ก่อนตั้งครรภ์ ระหว่างตั้งครรภ์ เมื่อคลอดบุตร และหลังคลอด มีสูติแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญที่สามารถตรวจวินิจฉัยทารกตั้งแต่อยู่ในครรภ์ ด้วยเครื่องอัลตร้าซาวด์ 3 มิติ พร้อมด้วย กุมารแพทย์เฉพาะทางสาขากุมารเวชศาสตร์ทารกแรกเกิดและปริกำเนิด จึงมั่นใจได้ว่าทารกที่เกิดที่โรงพยาบาลหัวเฉียวทุกคนจะได้รับการดูแลจากทีมสูติแพทย์ และกุมารแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ

โรงพยาบาลหัวเฉียว มุ่งมั่นพัฒนาต่อไปอย่างไม่หยุดหยั่ง เพราะจุดเริ่มต้นมาจากพลังแห่งศรัทธา ที่ทุ่มเทให้กับการช่วยเหลือเพื่อนมนุษย์ แม้เวลาจะผ่านไป สิ่งต่างๆ รอบตัวจะเปลี่ยนแปลง แต่ปณิธานอันแน่วแน่ของบุคลากรทุกคนของโรงพยาบาลหัวเฉียวในวันนี้ ยังคงหนักแน่นและยึดถือตามแนวทางดั้งเดิม ด้วยนโยบายบริหารเป็นองค์กรเพื่อสังคม (Social Enterprise) 6 ด้าน ได้แก่ พัฒนาคุณภาพการรักษาพยาบาล มีคุณธรรมจริยธรรมของบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ มีธรรมาภิบาลในการประกอบธุรกิจ มีความเอื้ออาทรต่อผู้ป่วยและครอบครัว การกำหนดอัตราค่าบริการที่สมเหตุสมผล และจัดทำโครงการเพื่อสังคม เพื่อให้โรงพยาบาลหัวเฉียว เดินไปข้างหน้าอย่างมั่นคง และดำรงตนให้เป็นประโยชน์ต่อสังคม
